Q: How can I hit better out of heavy rough?

A: When rough is very heavy, the grass has a tendency to grab the hosel first and flip the clubhead over closing the clubface at impact. This de-lofts the club and makes the shot go low and left (right for lefties) with very little distance.

Next time try the following:
1. Select a club with more loft.
2. Pre-set the clubface slightly open.
3. Increase grip pressure in the last three fingers of the left hand (right for lefties) to resist the flipping action of the clubhead.
4. Play the ball in the middle of your stance.
5. Put more weight on your forward side.
6. Make sure to turn the body through to the target and finish the swing.
